NUSADAILY.COM – GENEVA – A panel of independent vaccine experts has reviewed COVID-19 vaccine data from Moderna Inc. and will publish its recommendations on vaccine use next Tuesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Friday.
In a statement to the media around next week, who said on Friday night: “The Expert Group on Strategic Advice (SAGE) on Immunization will announce interim recommendations to WHO on the use of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (mRNA-1273). The recommendation was agreed at SAGE’s extraordinary meeting held on January 21.
Mariangela Simao, WHO’s assistant director general for access to medicines, vaccines and pharmaceuticals, who spoke at a WHO social media event on Wednesday, noted that SAGE experts had issued recommendations for Pfizer’s vaccine use in early January. “A meeting for another vaccine is soon to be held,” Simao said.
