NUSADAILY.COM – DELISERDANG – The joint team of BPBD, TNI and Polri assisted the community to clean up the mud material from the flood that hit Tanjung Selamat Village, Sunggal District, Deliserdang, North Sumatra.
Head of Sunggal Ismail in Deliserdang said on Sunday that the joint team with the community worked together to clean up the remnants of flood materials that occurred in Tanjung Selamat Village last Friday, which claimed five lives.
Mud and rubbish that are carried away by flooding and piling up are cleaned with various existing equipment.
The remaining material from the flood, mostly mud and wood, is immediately dumped to another location by truck.
Previously, the Acting Head of North Sumatra BPBD, Riadil Akhir Lubis, said that five victims died as a result of the flood that occurred on Friday (4/12) in the morning, around 00.30 WIB.
One person is being treated in hospital and another, a toddler in a search effort.
“Basarnas is still continuing to search for the missing,” he said.
So far, Riadil said that the handling and evacuation was running smoothly.
The number of refugees in the Binjai area is around 3,300, BPBD offices around 700, Tanjung Selamat 343, Medan more than 3,000.
“But some of them have returned home. The logistics are adequate at the post, and all public kitchens are available,” he said. (sak / ant)
