These handling steps certainly require a large budget allocation, which requires sharpening budget priorities and maintaining fiscal sustainability.
The Covid-19 pandemic is a wake-up call to the world regarding the importance of investing in developing pandemic preparedness and response capacity. The government continues to strengthen the health sector in order to ensure access for everyone to quality health services.
This was conveyed by the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, in a virtual G20 meeting entitled “Key Role In Responding To The Current Crisis And Addressing Gaps In Global Pandemic Preparedness And Response” last Thursday (17/9).
According to Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani The role of the G20 together with multilateral development agencies and international organizations, including WHO. It is very important in efforts to control Covid-19 and promote global economic recovery.
On that occasion also all G20 Ministers of Finance and Health Ministers agreed on the importance of the principle of fairness, equity and affordability (fair, affordable and equitable) for all countries in the world for access to medical equipment and medicines needed, including the Covid-19 vaccine.
In supporting this, the G20 encourages global action through the Covid-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT-A) initiative.
In addition, the G20 also supports through the COVAX Facility, and supports voluntary licensing of intellectual property.
Meanwhile, multilateral development agencies are encouraged to increase their support for meeting the financing needs of countries in need.
The G20 countries will continue to implement policies to protect lives, protect jobs and incomes, support the global economic recovery, and increase the resilience of health and financial systems. (sir)
