NUSADAILY.COM – JAKARTA – A fire broke out in a historic building in Beirut’s business district on Tuesday before it was finally extinguished, according to civil defense officials and Reuters journalists.
A fire raged on the futuristic waterfront building, which is nearing completion. The Lebanese broadcaster al-Jadeed previously showed images of thick smoke rising from the building.
A Reuters reporter said the other side of the building burned as firefighters tried to extinguish the flames.
Last week, large fires engulfed the port of Beirut, which was the site of a powerful explosion on August 4. (int1)
