NUSADAILY.COM-JAKARTA – The discovery of underwater drones in Sulawesi was received by UI Professor of International Law Hikmahanto Juwana. He said indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs should be firm on the country that owns underwater spy drones.
“If it is known the origin of the country that owns the drone, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should conduct a strong diplomatic protest against the country and if necessary other decisive action,” said Hikmahanto Juwana in a statement in Jakarta, Saturday (2/1/2021) about the findings of underwater drones.
He said an underwater drone was found by fishermen near South Sulawesi’s Selayar Islands. The ministry must be firm. The Navy is currently securing it. The drone allegedly belonged to China. This is according to the analysis militermeter.com.
Violent protests and resolute action from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, carried out regardless of whether the country is a friendly country. Even the dependence of Indonesia economically, said the Rector of Universitas Jenderal A. Yani.
He said there should be no repeat of the incidents against German intelligence agencies. The ministry really has to be assertive.
“The Ministry was only satisfied with the clarification of the German Embassy and the agent was repatriated by the Embassy without any diplomatic protest,” Hikmahanto said.
Supposedly, he continued, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs took other decisive action when the spying activities unfolded.
This is all done so that diplomacy to defend the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia is really played by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said.
“Do not let Indonesia be considered weak and even easy to be invited to compromise when the spying actions carried out by other countries are revealed,” hikmahanto said about the attitude of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (cak)
