Dive Team Finds Body Parts of Alleged Sriwijaya Air Victim

NUSADAILY.COM – JAKARTA – A team of divers from the Navy’s Frog Squad Command Unit (Kopaska) found the body parts of the alleged victims of the sriwijaya air crash PK-CLC register SJ 182 in Kepulauan Seribu.

Reporters who participated in the evacuation process, Sunday at about 09.40 WIB reported that the body was removed from underwater with a depth of 17-20 meters.

The body parts had been mixed with several pieces of plane debris, which continued to be lifted from underwater.

“There are still many pieces underwater,” said Dankima Satkopaska Koarmada I, Marine Major (P) Edy Tirtayasa while lifting pieces of debris from underwater.

Edi said Satkopaska dropped off four teams to help search for victims and debris of the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane that crashed in the Thousand Islands.

One team was in KRI Teluk Gilimanuk, one team in KRI Rigel-933 and two teams departed using two sea riders.

“Some divers have helped to evacuate the search for Lion Air JT 610 that crashed in Karawang waters in 2018,” said Edy.

Previously, Sriwijaya Air aircraft register number PK-CLC SJ182 Route Jakarta-Pontianak lost contact on Saturday (9/1) at 14.40 WIB and crashed in the waters of Kepulauan Seribu between Lancang Island and Laki Island.

The Boeing 737-500 aircraft lost contact at 11 nautical miles north of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang after passing an altitude of 11,000 feet and at the time of adding altitude at 13,000 feet.

The plane took off from Soekarno Hatta Airport at 14:36 WIB. The schedule was backed up from the previous flight schedule of 1:35 p.m. Departure delays due to weather factors.

According to the manifest data, the aircraft produced in 1994 was carrying 62 people consisting of 50 passengers and 12 crew members. Of these, 40 were adults, seven children, three infants. While the 12 crew consists of, six active crew and six extra crew.

The plane’s existence is under investigation and search by the National SAR Agency (Basarnas) and the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT). Direct coordination is carried out with various parties, both the Police, THE TNI and the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta.

A number of navy fleets belonging to the TNI were deployed, about 10 ships were deployed to the site of the alleged crash of the plane between Laki Island and Lancang Island, Kepulauan Seribu, DKI Jakarta.

Among the navy ships deployed were KRI Teluk Gilimanuk-531 carrying SAR crews as well as media crews. Then KRI Rigel-933 belongs to the Center for Hydrography and Oceanography TNI AL (Pushidrosal). (eky)
