NUSADAILY.COM – JAKARTA – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan called the Lake Toba Creative Buy campaign an example of collaborative work in building Indonesia’s tourism ecosystem and creative economy.

“I congratulate and highly appreciate the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy and his ranks for the hard work in realizing the launch of the Lake Toba Creative Buy Campaign. This is an example of collaborative work in building Indonesia’s tourism ecosystem and creative economy simultaneously,” Luhut said in a written statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

This was conveyed by Luhut who was present online at the Launch of the Lake Toba Creative Buy Campaign held simultaneously at three points in a hybrid. Namely in Dairi, Toba and Jakarta.

The campaign was held by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy as coordinator of the National Movement for Indonesian Pride (Gernas BBI) in February 2021. That takes on the theme of the beauty of the landscape and the authenticity of the work of the creative economy in Lake Toba.

Luhut himself said he was happy to see the enthusiasm of the children of Nuda Toba who participated in the campaign.

Craft Campaign

Because, the campaign provides an opportunity for eight districts around Lake Toba to exhibit handicrafts and processed works typical of each region. These districts include Dairi, Toba, Simalungun, Pakpak Barat, North Tapanuli, Humbang Hasundutan, Karo and Samosir.

“I am very happy to see the enthusiasm of young people in Lake Toba who are very passionate in preserving ancestral culture. It also proves that to succeed does not necessarily have to be from major cities. We can build starting from our own birthplace,” said Luhut who is also the original son of Toba.

A variety of creative economy products ranging from craft, culinary and fashion fill the exhibition booths. In addition, the event was also enlivened by various performances ranging from fashion shows by local designers of Lake Toba, tor-tor dance performances. “We hope that in the next six months, the products of the creative economy in Lake Toba can develop. Therefore, we will do mentoring or upscaling, marketing or onboarding, and of course will support this program, we will continue to campaign across platforms,” said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno who was present in Dairi Regency.
