NUSADAILY.COM – KEDIRI – The boss of the largest cigarette factory in Indonesia, PT Gudang Garam, Tan Siok Tjien, or the wife of the founder of PT Gudang Garam Tbk Surya Wonowidjojo died. The late Tan Siok Tjien died at the age of 91 on Sunday, October 25.
The deceased is a figure who is quite reckoned with in the business world. After the death of her husband, Tjoa Jien Hwie alias Surya Wonowidjojo, in 1985 the late Tan Siok Tjien immediately took over the leadership of Gudang Garam.
He is assisted by his third son Susilo Wonowidjojo who is the President Director. Then, his daughter Juni Setiawati Wonowidjojo served as President Commissioner of the company.
His leadership also paid off, Gudang Garam is still the leading cigarette company in the country. In fact, the company was able to deliver the late Tan Siok Tjien to be the only Indonesian woman to be included in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index’s list of the 500 richest people in the world.
On the Bloomberg list, Tan Siok Tjien is ranked 364. With assets of US $ 6 billion or around Rp. 87.6 trillion (exchange rate of Rp. 14,600).
He was ranked 359th in the list of the world’s richest people last September. In Indonesia, he is the 3rd richest person.
From the official statement of the Wonowidjojo family, the late Tan Siok Tjien explained that he died on Sunday 25 October in Kediri, East Java. He died at 5.50 WIB.
The family also carried out a funeral on Tuesday, October 27 at the family grave complex located at the Gudang Garam factory.
