NUSADAILY.COM – JAKARTA – The sound of mysterious booms heard in Jakarta and West Java is mysteriously suspected. Because, until this morning there is no certainty where the origin of the horrendous sound. Because the Geological Agency had said that the voice was not from the child of Mount Kratau. While other opinions call it from the child of Krakatoa.
This was conveyed by a volcanologist and former Head of the Geology Agency, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Surono to CNN Indonesia. He stated the thumping and roar felt by residents of Jakarta and West Java on Saturday (11/4) early morning was believed to be from the activities of Mount Anak Krakatau.
“Some say it is not the voice of Anak Krakatau, now where is the voice from? Is there military training? ” said Surono when contacted by CNNIndonesia.com.
According to Surono during the early hours, many residents’ activities stopped so that the conditions were quiet. He also mentioned that at the time of the coronavirus outbreak (Covid-19) as it is today, the activities of residents, including vehicle traffic, were increasingly reduced, thereby reducing the slowdown of sound wave travel.
Surono believes the only cause of thumping and rumbling is the eruption of Anak Krakatau. According to him, the two things are likely to come from shock waves (shock waves) that propagate far to be able to vibrate items such as window panes at home.
Meanwhile, Friday (10/4), the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMB) reported that Anak Krakatau erupted twice at 21.58 West Indonesia Time and 22.35 West Indonesia Time. The eruption with the height of the ash column up to 600 meters was recorded with an amplitude of 40 mm for 74 seconds to 2,284 seconds. (Aka)
