NUSADAILY.COM – JAKARTA – Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G. Plate asked the public not to damage public infrastructure, especially related to telecommunications.
“Some deliberately damage public infrastructure, this should not be,” johnny said when recounting the challenges of building telecommunications infrastructure, reported from Antara.
When building telecommunication infrastructure, especially base transceiver station (BTS) towers, Kominfo not only builds technically, but also involves the community so that they understand the usefulness of the building.
In addition to not easily build it, when the BTS tower is damaged, the public’s need for telecommunication network will also be disrupted.
“To build again, it has to be budgeted again,” johnny said.
President Director of Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) Anang Latif recounted the various reactions of the community once their region has a BTS tower until finally get a telecommunication signal.
Almost all welcome the development of telecommunication infrastructure, however, some are actually damaging it.
Without specifying the location, BAKTI said the BTS tower they built had been burned because there had been a social conflict in the area. There are also people who steal components that are in the tower.
At one of the events after the BTS tower was set on fire, the local community was shocked because they didn’t get a signal on the phone.
Seeing the reality in the field, BAKTI is trying to build BTS towers away from residential areas in several locations.
Another effort is to provide understanding to the public about the function of BTS towers, namely providing telecommunication signals to mobile phones and if not maintained properly, then it risks not emitting telecommunication signals anymore.
The Ministry of Communication and Information through BAKTI targets to build BTS in 7,904 points until 2022.
A total of 4,200 points will be completed this year, while 3,704 by 2022.
All of these points are lagging, leading and outermost areas or 3T.(mic)
