NUSADAILY.COM – JAKARTA – Members of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Board (BKSAP) of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia Himmatul Aliyah will continue to promote Indonesian tourism on the international scene.
“So, through this BKSAP we will strive to continue to promote Indonesia, promoting that Indonesia is safe,” Himma said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Monday.
He explained that the condition of tourism sector and creative economy (parekraf) in the current pandemic has decreased to 12 million tourist visits with a loss of about 15 billion U.S. dollars.
The parekraf sector is one of the most affected by the pandemic and its recovery is predicted to be the lingering.
The legislators will utilize the world’s parliamentary networks or forums to promote Indonesian tourism, especially priority tourist destinations. Such as Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara, Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara, Borobudur in Central Java and Likupang in North Sulawesi.
Not only that, Himma also gave a note to the government to provide imagery and assurance abroad that Indonesia is safe to visit.
He assessed that it will have implications both to excite the economy and investment in Indonesia from the tourism sector. Although for the time being Indonesia is temporarily closing visits from other countries.
“But there is now a policy from the foreign ministry that Indonesia is closing (lockdown) temporarily for foreign nationals. So maybe later if after reopening, we from BKSAP will continue to promote this as part of the task of BKSAP,” said Himma. (lal)
