NUSADAILY.COM – JAKARTA – Actress and singer Selena Gomez released the Spanish-language song “De Una Vez”.
“I am very proud of my Latin background,” Gomez said of her new single in a statement, quoted from Billboard on Sunday.
“It feels empowering to sing in Spanish again and ‘De Una Vez’ is a beautiful love song,” she continued.
The song, produced by Tainy, Albert Hype, Jota Rosa and NEON16, premiered with a music video directed by Los Pérez (Tania Verduzco and Adrián Pérez).
The visual shows Gomez in a mythical house surrounded by magical visuals, where she steps into a room that represents her evolution. Towards the end of the video, the words “Baila Conmigo” appear, hinting at the potential of a second Spanish single.
After its release, she wrote on Twitter, “This is the beginning of something I’ve long wanted to explore. I hope you like it just as much as I do.”
Some time ago before its release, Gomez confirmed that she would be releasing a Spanish song, and she also launched a cover art for “De Una Vez.”
She later retweeted her 2011 tweet in which she teased that a Spanish-language song was coming. “I think it’s worth the wait,” he added.
“De Una Vez,” released through Interscope Records and UMG, came down just days after excited fans began speculating on social media that she would be releasing Spanish-language music, soon after several murals promoting new music were seen across Mexico.
“De Una Vez” is Gomez’s second Spanish song. He previously released his first Spanish-language song, “Un Año Sin Lluvia”, in 2010. (sak/ant)
