NUSADAILY.COM-JAKARTA-Four SOE PT INKA (Persero), PT LEN (Persero), PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk and PT KAI (Persero), are involved and incorporated in the Indonesian Railway Development Consortium (IRDC). They will work on the Laos-Vietnam railroad development project which began in 2021. Meanwhile, the target for completion is 2024.
“The initial assessment is correct, we will convey the stages to what extent, I am (currently) coordinating,” said Senior Secretariat Public Relations & PKBL (Partnership and Community Development Program) PT INKA, Inggit W Prasetio, reported from kumparan.com, Sunday (27th) / 10).
Laos does have plans to make a railroad line from Khammouane Province in their country to the Port of Vung Ang in Vietnam. The railroad to be built by IRDC is around 400 km in length. The value of the cooperation is around USD 1.9 billion (Rp. 14,200 per USD) or equivalent to Rp. 26.9 trillion (exchange rate of Rp. 14,200 per USD).
The cooperation was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Petroleum Trading Lao Public Company (Petrotrade), IRDC and the Government of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. The MoU was held on October 15, 2019, in Vientiane, Laos.
“The signing of the Joint Development Agreement is a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IRDC and Petrotrade which was signed by both parties on June 25, 2019. The MoU contains an agreement between the parties to develop logistics and infrastructure in Laos,” wrote the broadcast of the Indonesian Embassy in Vientiane, Laos, as quoted by kumparan.com.
In addition to the signing of the Joint Development Agreement, the signing of the MoU Complete the Detailed Design of the Laos-Vietnam Railway Project between the Government of the Democratic Republic of Laos and the Lao Public Petroleum Trading Company, Laos. (kumparan/cak)
